We have more individual music success this week with the news that Alex, in Year 5, has passed his Violin grade 2 with distinction.

Alex started learning the violin Year 3 when every child in the year group has the opportunity to learn an instrument as part of the standard curriculum.  He subsequently decided to continue learning with Mrs Anstis.

Alex’s mum told us: “Alex had to learn remotely during lockdown, which was definitely challenging, but Mrs Anstis was brilliant at making it work, and we’ve been impressed at how well Alex has managed to stay focused. He has been fortunate to have lessons in person again this term, and actually took the exam in person too!”

Alex enjoyed playing his grade pieces but since the exam has been much more interested in working out a few festive favourites – from Jingle Bells to Rudolph, and perhaps even a bit of Wham!
