Meet the Nursery Team
I’m a qualified teacher and have been working with Early Years children since 2000. I have experience with all ages from birth to five. I began my career as a Nursery Nurse and worked towards achieving my degree and EYP status in 2007. I recently trained to be a qualified Forest School practitioner and now lead Forest School adventures from Nursery to Year 2, which is a highlight of my week.
I really enjoy leading the Nursery Team at Banstead Prep, welcoming families so we can work together to achieve the best start in their children’s educational journey. I believe it is paramount for children to gain independence through learning and having a supportive team will enable them to be confident, active learners. Being part of the Senior Leadership Team ensures I also have a thorough working knowledge of the whole school and that the nursery is are fully considered in all school decisions.
I have been an Early Years Educator since 2015 and have worked with children aged up to five in a variety of settings, including a Forest School, where I gained experience of the benefits of outdoor learning.
I am currently undertaking the final year of my Foundation Degree, which will make me a Level Five practitioner. After this it is my aim to undertake a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Education. My enthusiasm and knowledge enable me to support our children within the Early Years, academically, socially, holistically and emotionally. I am especially passionate about play-based learning, which is a huge part of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
I have been an Early Educator since 2011 and am qualified with a Level Three Diploma. I have experience of working with children aged from birth to seven in numerous settings. I have always been passionate about education and enjoy working to develop children to the best of their abilities, giving them the confidence they need and ensuring they are cared for in a happy, safe and stimulating environment.
During a career break, which I took to start a family, I became involved in a playgroup and it was during this time that I developed an interest in children’s education. I went on to qualify as a Level Three Nursery Practitioner and have now worked in Early Years settings for seven years.
Working with children is hugely rewarding; no two days are the same. I enjoy helping our children develop self confidence and particularly love using role play resources to develop their communication, imagination and social interaction.
I am a Level Two qualified Teaching Assistant and have been working with Early Years children since 2014, after 30 successful years in financial services. For me, helping children achieve their learning objectives while preparing them for Reception and beyond is hugely satisfying. It is very rewarding to be a part of their growth, seeing them become independent, confident individuals as they move up through the school.
In my former career, I spent eight years designing children’s books for a London publisher. I now have two children who are both in full-time education and have worked in several different Early Years roles. It is very exciting to be part of the Nursery team; I enjoy utilising my creative skills as a designer to plan exciting and engaging activities that allow our children to learn through play.
I have always had a passion for working with children; from an early age I spent many of my school holidays working in crèches or at play schemes. I have a NNEB Diploma and spent 13 years being a Private Nanny, before taking a break to start a family of my own.
