The Banstead Prep Nursery offers our youngest children the opportunity to develop through play, helping them to feel confident and safe in the school environment, while ensuring they’re given the best start to their time at our school.
To really encourage the most from children all the way through the school it’s vital that we get it right, right from the very start. Every child learns, progresses and succeeds in their own way at their own pace.
By investing in our youngest children from the minute they join us, encouraging their interests, promoting kindness and compassion, and teaching them how to learn, we forge strong relationships and instil good habits, a ‘can do’ attitude and a love of learning they can take with them as they continue through the school.
Success encompasses everything we do; the foundations we create and then build upon in Nursery are crucial to our children’s later development, in all areas – personally, socially, physically and academically. With familiar staff and surroundings, and relationships already built, our Nursery children are ready for the journey ahead and make a smooth, seamless transition to Reception.
We also know the time pressures many parents face and, with this in mind, we provide extremely flexible wraparound and sibling care, to ensure a personalised service for each of our families.
Above and Beyond
Our offer goes far beyond what most prep schools are able to provide, even for our youngest pupils. Banstead Prep School’s exceptional facilities and dedicated staff enable us to consistently offer our children that little bit more. We want exceeding your expectations to be the norm.
The dedicated Nursery building provides a bespoke, nurturing and highly-specialised environment while still being part of the whole school, giving children access to our extensive facilities and allowing them to try something new, while getting to know their future classrooms. All Nursery children benefit from weekly specialist teaching in Music, French and PE, and Adventurers visit our on-site Forest School.
We believe it’s vital to equip every child with the right skills from the outset and, with this in mind, Phonics, Literacy and Maths teaching begins in Nursery, and are taught in the same way as the main school. Miss Compton, our Nursery Leader, is a dual qualified Early Years teacher and Nursery Nurse who’s able to take the children on beyond the nursery curriculum if they are ready.
We recognise the importance of a strong partnership between parents and school so during their first few weeks at Banstead Prep, Nursery children design a canvas bag, which becomes their ‘Chatter Bag’, used to enhance communications between home and school.
Surrounded by familiar staff and in classrooms they already know, our Nursery children find the transition to Reception smooth and seamless.
