Year 1 have absolutely loved finding out and sharing their knowledge about castles and castle life over the last few weeks.
Their learning was enhanced by an amazing drama experience from the “Teach It Through Drama” company, where the children learnt about who were the most important people in the castle and became different characters, including villains, knights, lords and ladies, as well as a king and queen. They had to bow or curtsy to one another dependant on their character.
Later in the workshop, the children collaborated to make a whole castle using their bodies. They also explored objects founds in different parts of the castle which helped the children learn more about the jobs that needed to be done in the castle – it really was fantastic!
Back in the classroom, the children then completed their castle building projects in their curious curriculum time – they all look fabulous!
