We were delighted to hear that, following the Regional NATD Dance Heats in September, Rosie got through to the Scholarship Finals in ballet, tap and modern dance!  She was thrilled to be able to compete with other dancers from all areas of the country in the Grand Final in Birmingham  last weekend.

It was a big weekend, even breaking up the drive with a overnight stay with family it was still an early start to make it for 8.15am and be ready for her first competition: ballet. Just enough time for hair in a bun, make up, tutu and ballet shoes on! After a little practice she was ready to go.

There were over 20 children in each competition.  The next contest was modern to Blue Suede Shoes by Elvis Presley.  Rosie had practiced a lot and loved this dance but knew she had to concentrate as well as enjoy herself.  It all paid off as she finished 6th!

Rosie told us how it felt: “I felt so exited then everyone was clapping and the lady said “the results are in!’ All of a sudden numer 17 was called out and I looked down at my number and my number was 17! I had came 6th out of the whole contry in my new modern which I have only performed once on stage before.I was so proud of myself I could not stop smiling!”

After a roast lunch to celebrate and fill the time before the final competition, they headed back to get ready for her tap competition. Rosie performed brilliantly and enjoyed every minute.  She had a fantastic weekend sharing the stage with the top dancers of her age and came home tired and happy with three trophies!

Congratulations Rosie!
