Quality of education and pupils’ personal development described as “Excellent” in all areas by Independent Schools Inspectorate

Banstead Prep School’s children and staff are celebrating after receiving a highly complimentary report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).  The school’s quality of education and the quality of pupils’ personal development were both judged to be excellent – the highest level of achievement possible for ISI inspections.

The inspectors, who visited at the end of September, were very impressed with what they saw and praised a number of areas of the school.  They reported that pupils “benefit from highly supportive teaching, excellent resources and a carefully planned curriculum” and, as such develop into “effective learners” who demonstrate excellent attitudes towards learning.  The inspectors also noted that “attainment of pupils across the school is high” leading to “considerable success in entrance examinations to schools with high standards of entry”.

The inspectors commented on how well core values such as kindness and empathy have been embedded throughout all aspects of school life.  Describing the children’s behaviour as “impeccable”, inspectors said that pupils ‘show a highly developed sense of moral responsibility’.  Importantly, they said that “pupils of all backgrounds and cultures enjoy very constructive and inclusive relationships in a very diverse and well-integrated community.”

This was the first full inspection for Banstead Prep School since it was founded in 2017.  Head Teacher Jon Chesworth said:

“This fantastic report recognises the hard work and achievements of the entire Banstead Prep community.  The inspectors were clearly impressed with what they saw and I was very proud to show them around our inclusive, happy and supportive community.  I was particularly pleased the inspectors noted how kind our pupils are.  They amaze me every day with their positive attitudes and the empathy they show to their friends.  Showing respect and care for one another is very much at the heart of our community and is what makes our school such a wonderful place to learn and grow.”
