We may still be apart for a few more days but we celebrated a wonderful World Book Day together. This year we chose one of David Wiesner’s picture books, Flotsam, to provide the theme of our World Book Day celebrations.

Mrs Dziedziela held an assembly for the whole school where she introduced David Wiesner’s Flotsam. This book took us to the beach and its beautiful visuals engage children of all ages to use their imagination to tell their own version of the story.

Children in all year groups enjoyed live form time where they presented their brilliant costumes and discussed the book further. The book’s story was linked to many other activities. For example in making art, STEM activities and beach games in PE. The children also enjoyed live storytime sessions by our teachers and watched several live events.

Mrs Dziedziela and Miss Perry really went above and beyond in organising all of the brilliant activities and even prepared some challenges for the children such as the Masked Reader Competition. Many staff members participated in this fun storytelling video and gave the chance to the children to guess who was reading behind the masks!
