Years 1 and 2 went on a Virtual Trip to Chester Zoo and learnt all about a variety of nocturnal animals including the Aye-Aye, Sloth and Pine Martin. The children discovered how these animals are adapted to being awake at night. They were especially excited to learn all about Owls and their pellets. They learnt that they swallow their prey and eat everything – including the bones!

Eloise in Year 2 said

“I really enjoyed learning about the different species of bats.”

Aaron in Year 2 said

“I love big cats so seeing the jaguar skull was amazing!”

Children and teachers loved hearing all about how we can help nocturnal creatures grow in number too. Did you know you can buy a bat box to help them nest or put a dish of water and wet cat food out for hedgehogs?
