In the last week of term, children in Year 6 at Banstead Prep School wrote postcards for the residents of the nearby Sunrise Senior Living care home, offering good wishes for Easter and to stay positive during the coronovirus crisis.

Children from Banstead Prep have often visited the home in person on other occasions, including fortnightly Boogie Beat music classes for Nursery children and residents to enjoy together, and drama and choral performances from older children. At this time, the children were facing the imminent closure of their school, whilst the doors at Sunrise Living had already closed to visitors, to shield residents from the increased risk of contracting the virus.  The children  hoped to bring a little joy at Easter through their decorated postcard messages instead.

In a Twitter post, one of the staff at the care home shared how thrilled the residents were to receive the cards in the post, “We received very emotional cards written by pupils of @BansteadPrep yesterday. We loved them so much, our residents have handwritten back to each pupil. Emotional times but a beautiful, kind, thoughtful thing to do.”
