Banstead Prep School is taking the current situation seriously, but neither do we want to cause unnecessary alarm. It is important for the children that we remain calm and sensible, and work together as a school community to follow the national guidance.

We are following the advice of Public Health England (PHE)

We continue to emphasise to both staff and children the importance of handwashing and hygiene, in line with the guidance about how best to prevent the spread of infection. We are taking opportunities to reinforce these messages regularly and to encourage everyone to wash their hands at regular points throughout the school day.  Please support us by encouraging your children to cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze and to thoroughly wash their hands frequently.

The Department for Education has launched a new helpline to answer questions about COVID-19 related to education. Staff, parents and young people can contact the helpline as follows:

Phone: 0800 046 8687 (Opening hours: 8am to 6pm- Monday to Friday)
Email: DfE.coronavirushelpline@education.gov.uk

Visitors to the school are being asked about recent travel and asked to wash their hands or use sanitiser gel on arrival.  If you are planning to visit us, and you have recently travelled to any of the areas listed by Public Health England as requiring precautionary action, please let us know.

We are monitoring the situation, and contingency plans are in place if the situation changes.
