Our intrepid hunters from Reception and Nursery took part in a French Story Hunt workshop for the first time this week as we welcomed the Freshwater Theatre Company into school.

Led by Imogen and “un grand oiseau”, the children had fun singing familiar nursery rhymes, which cleverly combined French and English, while making their way around the adventure forest (the school hall), exploring hills, land and rivers.  They couldn’t go over, they couldn’t go under, they couldn’t go round, so our curious discoverers went through the obstacles, learning French for food and animals along the course, as well as following instructions in French.

The children enjoyed dressing up and applying body parts, number and colour vocabulary to clues that were hidden around the hall.  Humpty Dumpty the ‘oeuf’, Incy Wincy ‘araignee’ and ‘Mama Canard’ all made their appearance!

The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for the children to enjoy French through the media of dance, song, stories and rhyme.  Their impeccable behaviour and good listening skills were noted as they all said au revoir and merci to their musical entertainer and guide.
