Devin, in Year 3 asked his parents to help him complete a walk for charity.   He chose Race for Life, events that raise money and awareness for Cancer Research UK.

Devin practiced two 5K walks before the event, so he was prepared for the distance, and on 29th September, he joined the rest of the runners, joggers and walkers at the Clapham Common Race for Life. He started the walk around 11am and completed it in about an hour. Friends and family supported him to raise £95, exceeding his original target of £50.

Devin said “I’m really pleased with myself and I enjoyed the whole experience a lot. I would like to do the same event again next year!”  As a result, he is encouraging his parents to do 5k walks with him every weekends.  They are finding it a great family activity, and are very proud of him!

Children at Banstead Prep School have been challenged to carry out and document acts of kindness to promote Wellbeing, and we are celebrating their efforts in school displays, website news stories and in our assemblies.
