Children at Banstead Prep embraced National Poetry day with staff sharing their love of poetry and creating activities throughout the school.

Dr Nissan, Specialist Leader – English / Reading, Language, Library and Wider Curriculum, decorated the school’s corridors with poems and read poems with the children in our Library at lunch time.

Miss Law,  Year 1 Teacher placed poems around the playground for pre-prep children. The children had a fun time searching for poems and then reading them out loud as you can see in our video below.

Year 6 were learning about The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. After reading and discussing the poem itself, they each had a go at rewriting the ending. They successfully completed this challenging task and some of them shared their alternative ending with the rest of the class.
