Nursery and Pre-school Fees
Nursery and pre-school fees
Nursery and preschool fees are subject to a minimum of five mornings for nursery and for pre-school a minimum of five mornings in the autumn term with an expectation of moving to five full days in the spring or summer term.
Free Early Education
Parents can claim up to 15 hours funding at Banstead Prep from the term after their child is three years old. For example, if your child’s third birthday falls in February (in the spring term) you can claim funding from the term after this (in the summer term).
All three and four year olds living in England are entitled to 570 hours of Free Early Education (FEE) and childcare a year. This is usually offered as 15 hours a week for up to 38 weeks a year and is a universal entitlement. It can be claimed the term after your child’s third birthday up until they reach compulsory school age. The funding is provided by Surrey county Council and further information can be found at: www.surreycc.gov.uk/people-and-community/family-information-service.
15 Hours’ Free Childcare
Banstead Preparatory School facilitates Free Early Education (FEE) but sometimes offers slightly less than the 38 weeks a year of full entitlement. In this situation, the claim is pro-rated to the number of weeks provided. Please note that you will not be able to claim the balance of funded hours elsewhere.
The maximum FEE that can be claimed with Banstead Preparatory School is 15 hours per week. Childcare Providers are able to set their own hours and we support a maximum of 3 hours per morning session and/or 5 hours for a full day, up to the maximum of 15 hours per week, to be claimed. Please be aware that the 15 hours of FEE funding only covers part of our fees and additional charges are payable.
Childcare vouchers and Tax Free Childcare accounts
Childcare vouchers and payments from government tax free childcare accounts are accepted and further details are available on the fees page.
You can find out more about the changes to government schemes on the Childcare Choices website https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/
If you aren’t already aware of this option, you may like to research it as you might benefit from it if eligible. You can find out more and apply here on the HMRC website. https://www.gov.uk/get-tax-free-childcare
If you have a tax-free childcare account, you will automatically receive a letter if eligible (you can find out more about eligibility here on the Surrey County Council website https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/children/support-and-advice/families/childcare/paying/30-hours-funded-childcare-for-working-parents). Although BPS doesn’t offer this, you may be able to use your hours with another childcare provider if you, for example, use a different childcare provider when BPS is closed for the holidays, or you use evening or weekend childcare.
The changes are designed to offer working parents affordable childcare. At Banstead Prep our nursery and pre-school education is provided as an early entry point to the school, and includes the specialist teaching, curriculum and facilities available to all children. It unfortunately isn't viable to offer free hours as part of our provision as the funding childcare providers receive from the government represents a tiny proportion of its cost.
