Feeling hot hot hot Head’s Desk (26 June 2026)

What a week it has been! The soaring temperatures have certainly made this one to remember. While the heat has brought its challenges, it has also been wonderful to see our school community come together with such positivity, resilience and care for one another.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our staff who have worked so hard to ensure that school has remained open throughout this week’s heatwave, whilst many other schools around us have had to close. Everyone has gone above and beyond to make sure that our children have remained safe, comfortable and able to continue enjoying their learning. From making the most of our air conditioned facilities to keep classrooms cool, to adapting plans throughout the day, the commitment shown by every member of staff has been exceptional.  Thank you too for the lovely messages of appreciation they certainly kept us going!!

I would also like to thank everyone involved in the difficult decision to postpone our performances of Shrek. Whilst we were all disappointed, it was absolutely the right decision in the interests of the children, families and staff. Thank you to our staff for the considerable extra administration, organisation and coordination that was required to rearrange everything at very short notice. Thank you also to our parents and carers for your understanding, patience and support. It is very much appreciated.

As always, our children have been amazing. They have adapted brilliantly to the changing routines, looked after one another and continued to approach each day with smiles on their faces despite the very warm conditions. They really are a credit to our school.

Next week promises to be another incredibly busy one as we look forward to our rearranged performances of Shrek, celebrating our Year 6 leavers at their end of term event and enjoying our prize giving celebrations. These occasions take an enormous amount of preparation and I would like to finish by thanking every member of staff for the extra effort they put in at this busy time of year. Whether it is our Site Team preparing the school, our Office Team coordinating events, our Senior Leadership Team rearranging schedules and classrooms, our IT Team keeping everything running smoothly, our Business and Marketing Team supporting behind the scenes, or of course our teachers and Learning Assistants, thinking outside the box in planning lessons: every single person plays an important part and everyone pulls together at times like this, it is one of the many things that makes our school so special.

As we move towards the final weeks of the academic year, I am continually reminded how fortunate we are to have such a dedicated staff team and such a supportive school community. Thank you all for everything you do.

Hopefully, things will start to cool down over the weekend and we can all start sleeping again!!
