If you’re considering Banstead Prep for your child, our Open Day is a lovely opportunity to come and see the school for yourself.
It’s a chance to look beyond the website, meet the people who make our school what it is, explore our classrooms and specialist facilities, and get a genuine feel for what everyday life is like at Banstead Prep.
Here’s what you can expect when you join us.
A warm Banstead welcome
From the moment you arrive, our team will be on hand to welcome you into the school.
We’ll start the morning in our Hall, where you can enjoy a coffee and a chat with members of our team before our Headteacher, Mr Jon Chesworth, welcomes everyone and shares more about life at Banstead Prep.
He’ll talk about our Free to Be Me ethos and our belief that children thrive when they are encouraged to be themselves, while also being supported to aim high and discover what they are capable of.
Discover what makes Banstead Prep different
After our welcome, you’ll join a small-group guided tour around the school.
This is your opportunity to see our learning spaces, meet some of our teachers and ask questions along the way.
You’ll get a glimpse of the breadth of experiences available to our children, from specialist teaching and Science and Computing to Art, Music, Languages, Sport and Swimming.
You’ll also discover how we look beyond academic achievement to help children develop the skills and characteristics they need for life.
Our Learner Powers
At Banstead Prep, learning isn’t just about what children know. It’s also about how they approach challenges, work with others and respond to new experiences.
Our Learner Powers are woven through school life, helping children develop qualities such as:
Curiosity. Collaboration. Communication. Independence. Resilience. Adaptability. Leadership.
You’ll see these in action as you move around the school and hear from our teachers about how we help children develop both academically and personally.
See our Early Years journey
For families considering Nursery, Pre-School or Reception, the Open Day is a chance to see how our youngest children are supported from their very first steps at school.
You’ll meet members of our Early Years team and find out more about our approach to learning, play, wellbeing and the transition from Reception into Year 1.
We know that choosing your child’s first school is a big decision, so we want you to have the opportunity to ask the questions that matter to you and see our Early Years environment for yourself.
Meet the people behind the school
One of the best things about visiting a school is meeting the people who will get to know your child.
Throughout the morning, you’ll have the opportunity to speak to teachers across different areas of the school, as well as Admissions.
You’ll also meet current Banstead Prep parents, who will be available to share their own experiences of school life.
Sometimes it’s those informal conversations that give you the best insight into what a school is really like.
Time to explore and ask questions
After the guided tours, we’ll return to the Hall for refreshments and more informal conversations.
Our Head of Admissions will be available to talk through applications and next steps, and you’ll have time to revisit areas of particular interest or simply chat with our team.
We want you to leave with a clear picture of what life at Banstead Prep could look like for your child.
Come and experience Banstead Prep for yourself
Choosing a school is a very personal decision, and every family is looking for something slightly different.
Our Open Day is designed to give you the opportunity to experience Banstead Prep first-hand – see our facilities, hear about our approach and meet our team.
We look forward to welcoming you on Saturday 10 October, from 10am–12pm.
