Eco Leaders visit St Matthew’s Food Bank

Following this year’s Harvest Festival, four of our Year 6 Eco and Community Leaders, Fin, Ada, Oliver and James, delivered the generous donations collected by the BPS community to St Matthew’s Food Bank in Redhill.

The children were welcomed by Deborah, who shared an insight into the vital role the food bank plays in supporting local people. As part of BPS’s longstanding relationship with the organisation, the visit gave our pupils the opportunity to learn more about how donations are sorted, stored and distributed to those who need them.

Fin, Ada, Oliver and James represented the school brilliantly throughout the visit. They listened carefully, asked thoughtful questions and showed a genuine interest in understanding both the practical side of running a food bank and the challenges that can lead people to rely on its support.

While they were unable to take part in preparing food parcels on this occasion, the experience has inspired them to become more involved. They are already hoping to return later this term to volunteer and help prepare donations for distribution.

Thank you to all BPS families for supporting our Harvest Festival collection. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference to people within our local community, and it was a valuable opportunity for our Eco Leaders to see first-hand how those donations can help others. 🌾💜
