Banstead Prep Shines with 47 11+ Offers and 23 Scholarships in Record-Breaking Year

It’s a record-breaking year of 11+ results for the children in Year 6 at Banstead Prep.  Of the 24 children in the year group, 20 entered assessments for selective schools, between them receiving a whopping 47 offers of places from 15 different independent schools, half of which included scholarship awards.

Of the 23 scholarships awarded, 16 are for academic excellence with others including Art, Drama, Dance, Performing arts, Music and a Head’s award.
BPS students enjoyed particular success this year at Caterham School (5 Academic scholarships and one Performing Arts) and Reigate Grammar School (where all three places offered included Academic awards).

As is usual for Banstead Prep, the breadth of schools competing for our talented children shows the diversity of the cohort and the success the school enjoys in supporting families to find the right school for each child.  Our comprehensive programme of 11+ preparation means that 90% of children have received an offer from their first-choice school.

In an era of consolidation in the independent schools’ market, it’s reassuring to know that our approach – being able to offer advice to parents on the full range of top senior schools in the area – results in the best opportunities for the children. Headteacher Jon Chesworth explains: “Banstead Prep isn’t a feeder for any specific senior school; rather, we help parents identify aspirational but realistic choices. Preparing the children through broad curriculum teaching within the normal school timetable ensures every child leaves us for their senior school of choice feeling valued, prepared, confident and ready to thrive.”

Once again, Headteachers’ feedback is that their next schools value our children’s highly developed character and practical skills. Banstead Prep’s Learner Powers, recognised as a significant strength by the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate (ISI), help our children achieve their full potential and shine in 11+ assessments.

Our website has the full results for 2025, and the previous few years, showcasing the wide-ranging destination schools of our Year 6 leavers.  If you’d like to find out more about how BPS is preparing children for a bright future through a modern education and developing their character, book now for our next Open Morning on Wednesday 19 March.
