The school hall was alive with excitement on Thursday 22 January as our Prep children gathered for this year’s StorySLAM—an annual celebration of creativity, communication, and the power of personal storytelling.
Since the start of the new year, children across Prep have been busy crafting their very own short stories from scratch. With impressive resilience and adaptability, every child persevered through the writing process and produced a piece of work they could be proud of. The standard across all classes was incredibly high, and after much deliberation, twelve finalists—three from each year group—were selected to share their stories on stage in the grand final.
This year’s StorySLAM showcased an inspiring range of heartfelt, humorous, and thought‑provoking performances. From imaginative tales about peas and carrots to reflections on possible dystopian futures and the role of technology, each storyteller brought a unique voice and perspective to the stage.
Every child performed brilliantly, making the judges’ task incredibly difficult. However, after much discussion, five winners were chosen, each recognised for something particularly special in their storytelling.

“StorySLAM is about more than performance,” she said. “It’s about students discovering the power of their own ideas and learning that their voices matter.”
With such outstanding talent on display this year, both students and staff are already eagerly looking forward to next year’s competition.
