Miss Law, Assistant Head – Head of Pre-prep tells us about her pride in the children’s achievements as we reach the end of this action packed term:
There is no better way to end the term than full of festive cheer and pride, which is exactly how our pre-prep children have made us all feel. Reception children delighted everyone with their Nativity performance, showcasing wonderful songs and actions that brought the story of the Wriggly Nativity to life. They did incredibly well and sparkled and shone, like the stars they are, all the way through their performance. Well done Reception and of course thank you to all of the teaching staff who supported them in achieving such wonder!
It was also heartwarming to see our Nursery and Pre-school children perform their “Songs of Christmas”, spreading joy to one another and grown-ups alike. For many, this was their first taste of the magical journey through Christmas at BPS, with many more experiences to come as they grow with us. It is wonderful for our children to spend time with Mrs Lane, our specialist music teacher, who supported the children with this performance.
All of our Pre Prep Christmas performances’ highlight the many magnificent opportunities the children receive, making their experience at BPS truly unique and special.
Year 1 impressed Pre-prep this week as they shared their ‘Be Curious’ learning with the Reception and Year 2 children. Their curiosity led them to explore a topic of their own choice, posing the question, ‘Where does Father Christmas live?’ It was impressive to see their imagination and learning come together in such creative ways over the last few weeks. They identified the names and flags of the countries in the Arctic Circle and learnt about the diverse animals that live there. In their art lessons with Mr. Ayling, they furthered their learning by proudly creating stunning Northern Lights pictures. Our Pre-prep audience were in awe of the Year 1s’ creations!
Encouraging the children to share their learning with others is a valuable opportunity. It supports their understanding of the purpose of their learning, beyond classroom tasks, as they confidently communicated their knowledge and ideas to others, allowing them to become the teachers! They answered questions from their audience and shared how they discovered their new facts. Additionally, the children are becoming more confident in identifying which Learner Power animals have supported them on their learning journey.
This term truly embodies the joy of learning and the spirit of Christmas, well done Pre-prep!
