All Weather and Sports Pitches

Our Sports grounds include a full sized floodlit All Weather Astro big enough for a full sized hockey pitch, plus two grass pitches and a brand new pavilion with changing facilities and toilets opened in November 2019 by Lauren Steadman.

Full Sized Sports Hall

A full size, full height sports hall means the children can do PE whatever the weather and have the opportunity to try a wide range of sports including badminton, basketball and gymnastics, plus keep up cricket training over the winter in the indoor nets.

Swimming Pool

An indoor heated pool is a great introduction to swimming for children in Reception and upwards, whist big enough for serious training for our swim squad.

Tennis Courts and Netball pitches

In addition to the Sports grounds across the road, we’ve also got space for tennis and netball courts within the main school grounds. These are home to ball games and giant chess at breaktimes.

Nursery and Pre-school

This is where we look after the youngest children at Banstead Prep School. Nursery and pre-school children have a dedicated building and exclusive outdoor learning area, on the main school site well within reach of specialist classrooms.

Reception Classrooms

Lots of space for our Reception children, with an outdoor classroom and three interconnecting rooms enabling free-flow independent learning through play. They also have their own toilets and hand washing facilities.

Pre-Prep and Nursery Outdoor Play Areas

Away from the games of the older children, children in Reception to Year 2 play on outdoor equipment including our Banstead Pirate Ship. Nursery come and play here everyday too.

Science Lab

Senior school standard science laboratories are introduced to the children in Year 3 ready for their fully specialist taught time from Year 4.

Art Studio

Art is a specialist taught subject from Year 1 upwards and the children can try painting, drawing, printmaking, model making and more in the Art Studio. The curriculum covers different genres and artists as well as architects and designers.

Music Classroom

Music is a big part of life at Banstead Prep School. Hands on, practical lessons with lots of participation, singing and experimenting with musical instruments and technology, is part of the curriculum right from Nursery to Year 6.

Food Technology Classroom

All of the children cook as part of their standard timetable and lessons are part of the Life Skills curriclum for Year 3 upwards. There are also cookery clubs after school.

School Hall

The school hall has permanent staging and professional lighting and sound, so it’s where our drama and musical productions and performances take place. It’s also well used for assembly, choir practice and co-curricular clubs.

Dining Hall

Fresh hot food, prepared on site is enjoyed in our dining room by all of the children everyday. The team cater for a wide range of dietary requirements and there’s lots of choice on offer to encourage healthy and varied meals.

Library

Children in Year 1 upwards have a library lesson as part of their weekly timetable, to encourage reading and a love of books. The library is also open before school and during break and lunchtimes so the children can read or get help to choose their next book.

Drama Studio

Drama is a weekly lesson from Reception upwards, taught in the drama studio which is connected to the backstage area of the School Hall, so can also be used as a Green Room. Professional lighting and a green screen enable a varied and creative curriculum and cross-curricular projects.

ICT Suite

Computing is part of the curriculum throughout the school. As well a fully equipped ICT suite with new PCs and screens, we also have three sets of 20 iPads that can be used in the classroom by teachers of any subject for children in pre-prep.  Children in Years 3 – 6 are provided with a personal device.

Forest School

Children in Adventurers, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have a forest school afternoon everyweek, led by Miss Compton, our Nursery Leader who is also a Forest School Leader. Creative and imaginative learning and play takes place in the woods just a short walk away on the other side of the sports grounds.

Breakfast and After School Care
