Matt Ayling: Specialist Leader - Art

Having completed his BA Hons in Fine Art, Matt Ayling designed the highly successful Art & Design curriculum for Priory and is now looking forward to taking this forward; adapting, enhancing, and making use of the great new space, facilities and resources available at Banstead Prep.

“I am excited to be a part of Banstead Prep School and look forward to delivering an exciting, experimental and inclusive Art & Design curriculum that inspires children, builds creative confidence and fosters a love of art."


Helen Abbott: Specialist Leader - French

Helen has vast experience in teaching languages to pupils at primary and secondary level, including A-level French and German. She has also organised and managed many overseas educational and exchange trips for pupils.

“I am excited about maintaining high academic standards in languages across the new school and being able to take advantage of the range of opportunities provided by fantastic facilities. I look forward to the challenge of being part of a new project and a new adventure.” 

Hayley Compton: Nursery Leader

Hayley has been working with Early Years children for 17 years now and has experience of all the age ranges from 0 -5 years old. Starting her career as a Nursery Nurse when leaving college to working towards achieving her degree and EYP status in 2007, working in a variety of roles.

“I am really looking forward to leading the Nursery Team at Banstead Prep and welcoming families so we can work together to achieve the best start in their children’s educational journey. In the Nursery it is paramount for children to gain independence through learning and having a supportive team will enable them to be confident and active learners.”


Ed Jeens: Specialist Leader - Mathematics

Ed is a successful teacher who is passionate about maths. His interest in target rifle shooting has seen him compete across much of the globe, representing Wales and Great Britain, most recently shooting for GB in the World Long Range Championships in the USA. 

“Banstead Prep School has the opportunity to be the most desirable and successful prep school in the county and I am looking forward to helping the school realise this potential."

Natasha Parsons: Specialist Leader - Music

Natasha is an experienced, passionate teacher, violinist and pianist who has taught music to children between the ages of two and eighteen, including GCSE and A-level. She has also worked with members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Animate Orchestra. 

“I will truly embrace the chance to be a part of a prestigious and leading independent prep school, which I know will not only strive for excellence but will make music a central part of its commitment to providing exceptional all-round opportunities for all pupils.”

Stella Clark: Specialist Leader - Science

Stella is an experienced teacher with a passion for STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects. In addition to a degree in Biology, Stella has also trained with the Royal Horticultural Society and brings her love of all things outdoors to Banstead Prep.

"I am excited about the opportunity to create a hands-on and modern science curriculum. I want to enable children at Banstead Prep to be curious about the world around them and become the scientists of the future."

Angela Dziedziela: Specialist Leader - English and Drama / Curriculum

Since completing her MA in Theatre in Education in 2000, Angela has taught English and drama to pupils ranging from 7 to 18 and led productions for several events including the Shakespeare Schools Festival.  Angela has also helped enable pupils to achieve academic scholarships and gain schools of their first choice as part of the 11+ English preparation.

“Communication is a fundamental skill for all pupils.  I look forward to ensuring that all pupils reach exceptional standards in both writing and speaking and listening.”



Liz Nissan: Specialist Leader - English / Reading, Language, Library and Cross Curriculum

Liz has taught across the primary age range, as well as at secondary and university levels.  She is excited by the prospect of fostering a love of reading and language throughout Banstead Prep in her new role as an English Subject Specialist. Her varied career before settling on teaching included working as a researcher, writer and editor.

“As well as developing a love of reading and language for its own sake, the development of a high level of skill in reading, writing and speaking is so important for children’s future success, whatever direction they choose to take – I’m very much looking forward to this important new role!”


Dr Clare Baines: Specialist Teacher - Maths

Clare has a Maths PhD and is passionate about primary maths education, where the love of all things ‘numberful’ begins. She has taught in mixed state primary schools for the past 14 years.

“I'm happy to be joining BPS at the start of its journey and look forward to working with a wonderful team. I'm already excitedly planning the Active Maths opportunities that the amazing site will offer!”


Gavin Jones: Sport and Boys’ Games

Currently Director of Sport at Priory, Gavin has overseen the planning of PE and games. He has led a very successful department which has seen boys perform on the national stage and achieve many sport scholarships in recent years. Gavin is also the FunZone leader and has been a key part of the holiday camp’s success. Whilst studying for his teaching degree he was a football coach at Fulham FC. Gavin is passionate about sport and believes in the ‘Sport for All’ philosophy and challenging all pupils to reach their potential.

Andrea Clarke: PE and Girls’ Games

As a secondary PE specialist, Andrea has vast experience at most sports across the secondary and primary school curriculum. Having trained as an athlete at Sutton and District Athletics Club, Andrea competed for Surrey in sprints and discus. She then continued her sporting career representing Northumbria University in heptathlon and cricket. Andrea trained girls for the Wimbledon Tennis Championships for 10 years and is passionate about performance, coaching and sporting excellence.

“I  am excited to be able to bring out the best sporting performance in each individual child. With the facilities we have, Banstead Prep pupils will have the best environment to thrive and excel in their future sporting careers. I am looking forward to driving the way forward for sport at the school and putting Banstead Prep on the map for sporting success.”


Angharad Tharp: Pre-prep Sport and Swimming

Angharad is an experienced teacher of PE who has taught PE, games and swimming to ages 3-18, including GCSE and A-level PE. She is passionate about offering all pupils the opportunity to enjoy their sport. Angharad has previously played County standard netball and hockey at Club level and is keen to be fully involved in all aspects of the sporting provision at BPS.

“I'm looking forward to being part of our new Sports team at BPS. Our facilities are fantastic and we've already started planning a varied and exciting curriculum. This will offer fantastic opportunities to all of our pupils to develop their fundamental skills and games confidence and more importantly a lifelong love of physical activity.”



Laura Grace: Year 1 Teacher, Computing and IT

Laura is a successful class teacher who has experience teaching in both Key Stage 1 and 2. She has thoroughly enjoyed teaching Year 1 and is excited to continue in this year group next year, together with teaching computing in Key Stage 2. She is passionate about e-safety and using technology to enhance and empower learners in the digital age.

“I am really looking forward to developing an exciting and engaging Computer Science Curriculum for Banstead Prep School; alongside a vibrant and inspiring Year 1 class.”

Fiona Miles: SENCO, Specialist Learning Support and Specialist Cookery

Fiona has been the Head of Learning Support at Greenacre for the last three years, following on from 23 years of teaching. In her professional and voluntary capacity she works with children with additional needs and loves to see them thrive and develop. She is currently working towards a Masters in Special Educational Needs, having completed the Diploma in Access Arrangements last year. 

“My passion is to see children happy and secure so they can reach beyond their apparent potential. I feel it is vitally important to work in partnership with parents so that we as a school can support your child in the best way possible.”
